Studio Movie Grill Keeps Making Movie Magic

Studio Movie Grill Keeps Making Movie Magic

May 16th, 2008 - With current locations in Addison, Houston, Lewisville, Plano, and anchoring the Arlington Highlands development, SMG will open three new ground-up movie grills this year in Dallas, Frisco, and Houston. Since debuting in Addison in 1998, the chain is enjoying explosive growth as a result of its one of a kind concept — movie and a meal. It all got started because Brian Schultz, 38, the founder and president of Studio Movie Grill, found his own movie-going ritual so much less than he wanted it to be. Born in Chicago but raised in Southern California, Mr. Schultz aspires to run a theater that offers “a comfortable environment with great service. Initially, I wanted the food to be on par with at least Chili’s. I think we’ve surpassed that.” Mr. Schultz concedes the biggest challenge of running a movie grill is freeing customers of preconceived myths. One he seeks to undo is that customers will talk more at a movie grill. He contends the opposite is true. His ultimate goal, he says, is to have individual patrons be able to ask and answer a question when the movie ends. “I want them to say, ‘I’m spoiled — so do I want to go to a regular theater again?’” he says. Studio Movie Grill makes going out easy, especially for families and is the perfect atmosphere for a one-stop great movie and fabulous meal. You get full food service, soft drink, beer, wine, and liquor menu available before and during the movie. You can purchase your ticket at the box office or online. Once you are seated in your comfortable individual leather chair that swivels, rolls, and tilts, servers will take your order like any restaurant. Your food will be brought to you inside the theater, usually before the movie starts, so you can enjoy your meal during the show. You will also be given a small coaster light. The coaster light lets the staff know you want service. Your check is dropped 40 minutes before the movie ends and you pay out at your convenience. The Retail Connection has represented Studio Movie Grill since 2004, throughout Texas and beyond. A big screen movie and a martini is just another great reason why retail never gets boring.
