Dallas-based Retail Connection – already one of the state's largest retail real estate brokerage firms – is expanding its operations into the Austin market. The new operation will be The Retail Connection's fourth office in Texas. "We always had an eye on Austin since it was such an important market," CEO Steve Leiberman said Wednesday. "This was the right team at the right time and the right place." The office will be headed by central Texas real estate veterans Lance Morris and Carla Neel. Morris was formerly an officer in the Austin office of the Weitzman Group. He has 28 years experience in the retail real estate business. And Neel previously a vice president in the Austin office of Cencor Realty. With the Austin expansion, the Retail Connection now plans to ramp up its operations statewide, said president Alan Shor. "This is going to be a pretty strong year for us to continue to add people," Shor said. "We expect our Dallas, Houston and now Austin offices will grow at a pretty healthy clip." The Retail Connection has been in business since 2003. The company represents 225 retail and restaurant chains and more than 25 million square feet of property listings. "W'eve now hit all the big Texas towns, but there is a lot of the country yet," Lieberman said.
